Investigating the build further, I found that the option
does not actually have any effect, as cmake is used to build this. It was changed from a cmake flag to a configure flag a while back, to fix the
nix build .#pkgsStatic.poco
build. That earlier fix seems faulty - not sure it was ever correct. Reverting that, I found that there was actually a dependency missing, and upstream seems to have a bug with static builds.
