This generalizes the
appmetrics-tag to allow one to programmatically add arbitrary tags to the generated metrics.As a rule, most of this tagging should be managed as config in one's Prometheus ingester; this facility as it is right now is only strictly needed if you're in a constrained environment that does not facilitate doing things the correct way.
