<!-- some comment --> emits <!--&ndash; some comment &ndash; -->, <!- some comment -> emits <!--- some comment ---> and <! some comment > emits <!-- some comment -->. Is this intended behaviour? If so, why?

The reason I ask is because of my confusion using a downstream library (see: cryogen-project/cryogen-core#76 )
