Looked through settings/GH discussions and couldn't find it.Is there a way to display my external monitors brightness value on the OSD when adjusting brightness?
I know the "nits" value shows up when brightness upscaling is turned on (so BetterDisplay has the ability to add values to the OSD), but it would be really nice to see my brightness value as I make adjustments using keyboard shortcuts
Basically a variation of this, but would display the nominal brightness value.

Maybe I can add this in a future version, but the problem is that the app has no idea of the nits value. Most SDR displays don't report their max value at all, and the DDC brightness control curve implemented by the display is unknown. So anything the app would show in this regard would be bogus. With built-in Apple displays, things are different, the nits values are exact and come from the tight hardware-software integrated nature of Apple products and known parts with exact characteristics.
But I plan to add some kind of calibration feature in the future to help brightness syncing - if the user properly calibrates brightness levels, then the app might be able to tell the nits values this way.

I’m less concerned about nit value but even just the raw brightness value coming back from the display (or the brightness % also shown in the slider in menu bar)
Generally trying to keep my OLED below 80% so it’s nice to see the value on the OSD when changing w keyboard shortcuts

no, the display does send brightness value back to the computer.
But the brightness % can be shown - however you should also see it from the tick marks, 80% is mark 12.

But I can add an option for a more precise feedback/percentage output.

Is there an option for it to be shown on the “native-looking” macOS overlay
Maybe I just have my config wrong — didn’t see an option to show % or value on the osdSimilar to first screenshot I sent. That overlay, I see it being customized when software brightness is below 100 so that kinda style
Sorry typing while mobile 🙂 love this program!

No, there is no option there, I just mean you can easily discern this from the amount of chiclets shown on the old-style OSD (my screenshot was from macOS Tahoe 26 with the new style OSD).
So currently there is no option to show the % inside the OSD.
