Summary of Changes
Hello @yewentao256, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!
This pull request performs a targeted refactoring by renaming a utility module to a more generic name. This change improves the clarity and accuracy of the codebase by reflecting the module's broader applicability beyond its initial DeepEP-specific context, making it more suitable for current PPLX test usage and future communication backend integrations.
Highlights
- Refactoring: The core utility file
deepep_utils.py
has been renamed toutils.py
. This change reflects that the utilities within, such asparallel_launch
, are no longer exclusive to DeepEP and are also utilized by PPLX tests, with potential for use by other communication backends in the future. - Import Path Updates: All relevant test files that previously imported from
deepep_utils
have been updated to import from the newly namedutils
module. This includestest_deepep_deepgemm_moe.py
,test_deepep_moe.py
,test_pplx_cutlass_moe.py
, andtest_pplx_moe.py
.

Code Review
The code changes in this pull request are a straightforward refactoring to rename import paths from deepep_utils
to utils
. This aligns with the pull request's stated purpose of making the utility module name more generic for broader use cases beyond just DeepEP. The changes are purely mechanical and do not introduce any functional regressions, performance bottlenecks, or security vulnerabilities. No issues were found that meet the specified severity criteria (medium
, high
, critical
).

Purpose
Currently, PPLX tests also uses the
parallel_launch
from utils.py, not only for deepep, and we may introduces other communication backend in the future. So I rename the
deepep_utils.py
toutils.py
to avoid confusion.
