👋 Hi! Thank you for contributing to the vLLM project.

💬 Join our developer Slack at https://slack.vllm.ai to discuss your PR in #pr-reviews, coordinate on features in #feat- channels, or join special interest groups in #sig- channels.

Just a reminder: PRs would not trigger full CI run by default. Instead, it would only run fastcheck CI which starts running only a small and essential subset of CI tests to quickly catch errors. You can run other CI tests on top of those by going to your fastcheck build on Buildkite UI (linked in the PR checks section) and unblock them. If you do not have permission to unblock, ping simon-mo or khluu to add you in our Buildkite org.

Once the PR is approved and ready to go, your PR reviewer(s) can run CI to test the changes comprehensively before merging.

To run CI, PR reviewers can either: Add ready label to the PR or enable auto-merge.

Summary of Changes

Hello @seemethere, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request focuses on updating a critical external dependency, vllm-flash-attn, by bumping its commit hash in the CMake configuration. This change is essential for addressing an import issue that arose during a recent package refactor and for integrating the latest features and fixes from the upstream flash-attention project, particularly those supporting vllm_kernels and an improved scheduler.

Highlights

  • External Dependency Update: I've updated the GIT_TAG for the vllm-flash-attn external project within cmake/external_projects/vllm_flash_attn.cmake. The tag has been changed from 763ad155a1c826f71ff318f41edb1e4e5e376ddb to 5f3644181c7a15345ce20bfc65af117d3601b524.
  • Purpose and Impact: This update is a stepping stone towards resolving an import issue encountered during a package refactor. It incorporates recent upstream changes from the flash-attention repository, specifically those related to setting up the vllm_kernels package and a new varlen combine scheduler.
