👋 Hi! Thank you for contributing to the vLLM project.

💬 Join our developer Slack at https://slack.vllm.ai to discuss your PR in #pr-reviews, coordinate on features in #feat- channels, or join special interest groups in #sig- channels.

Just a reminder: PRs would not trigger full CI run by default. Instead, it would only run fastcheck CI which starts running only a small and essential subset of CI tests to quickly catch errors. You can run other CI tests on top of those by going to your fastcheck build on Buildkite UI (linked in the PR checks section) and unblock them. If you do not have permission to unblock, ping simon-mo or khluu to add you in our Buildkite org.

Once the PR is approved and ready to go, your PR reviewer(s) can run CI to test the changes comprehensively before merging.

To run CI, PR reviewers can either: Add ready label to the PR or enable auto-merge.

Summary of Changes

Hello @yaochengji, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request resolves a bug in the test_pallas.py test file, specifically for TPU-related functionality. The fix involves updating the FakeAttentionLayer class to include a num_kv_update_slices parameter and correctly passing this parameter to the pallas_attention function, which was necessary for the test to pass.

Highlights

  • Test Fix: Corrected the test_pallas.py file by adding the num_kv_update_slices attribute to the FakeAttentionLayer class and ensuring it is passed as an argument to the pallas_attention function.

Code Review

The pull request fixes the tests/v1/tpu/test_pallas.py by adding num_kv_update_slices to the FakeAttentionLayer class and passing it to PallasMetadata. I suggested defining the tensor directly and ensuring the parameter is documented in the PallasMetadata class definition.

Consider defining num_kv_update_slices directly as a tensor with the correct dtype instead of creating a list and then converting it. This can improve readability and potentially performance.

It's good to see num_kv_update_slices being passed to PallasMetadata. Ensure that this parameter is properly documented in the PallasMetadata class definition in vllm/v1/attention/backends/pallas.py to explain its purpose.

Is this ok to merge? The test didn't run on CI because of timeout
