Summary of Changes
Hello @ispobock, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!
This pull request addresses an ImportError
related to the hf3fs_fuse
module by refining its dependency handling. The changes introduce a mechanism to explicitly track the module's availability and enforce its presence at the point of Hf3fsClient
instantiation, providing clearer and more actionable feedback to users when the dependency is not met.
Highlights
- Dependency Availability Flag: Introduced a new boolean flag,
HF3FS_AVAILABLE
, to explicitly track whether thehf3fs_fuse.io
module was successfully imported. - Improved Error Handling for Imports: Modified the
ImportError
exception block forhf3fs_fuse.io
to set theHF3FS_AVAILABLE
flag toFalse
instead of just logging a warning. This changes the behavior from a passive warning to an active state tracking. - Enforced Runtime Dependency Check: Added a check within the
Hf3fsClient.__init__
method. IfHF3FS_AVAILABLE
isFalse
, anImportError
is now explicitly raised, providing a clear message to the user about the missinghf3fs_fuse
package and instructing them to install it.

Code Review
This pull request refactors the handling of the optional hf3fs_fuse
dependency. Instead of logging a warning at import time, it now uses a flag to check for availability and raises an ImportError
when Hf3fsClient
is instantiated without the dependency. This is a good improvement, as it provides a clearer error message to the user at the exact point where the dependency is needed. The changes are correct and well-targeted. I have one minor suggestion to improve code style.
