Readest 0.9.62, iPad Pro 11" 2022, iPadOS 18.5, system orientation lock: off

The Readest setting for layout > screen > orientation has no effect whatsoever on my iPad. With any of the settings (auto/portrait/landscape) the screen still rotates depending on how you hold the tablet.

Expectation: the setting should lock the screen to auto/portrait/landscape mode. The screen should not rotate when portrait/landscape is chosen.
