Bug Description

On my Amazon Fire tablet, importing books does not appear to work. Pressing the "Import Books" button opens the file picker, I can select files, but upon returning to the app after pressing "Select" no books appear in the library. The behavior is the same regardless if one or multiple books are selected. The books are all in Epub format (version 2, I believe), and are stored on a MicroSD card. I have tried multiple versions of the app, all behave the same. I am not sure if it matters but I noticed that the app is restricted to "Media Only" file access, and suspecting that maybe the system does not recognize Epub files as "media" I, as a shot in the dark, tried manually granting the android:legacy_storage and MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permissions via adb, but this did not change the observed behavior.

Expected behavior

I would expect after selecting books to add to the library that they would be added to the library.
