Bug Description:

Even opening a second workspace takes a surprisingly long amount of time on the highest-performance laptop computers. Opening Panic Nova takes about a half second from clicking on the dock icon to ready to edit the last file I was working on. With Theia IDE, I'm waiting 20 seconds in the best case. Even a behemoth like Xcode is ready to start editing in 3.5 seconds from launch.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Launch Theia IDE or open a second workspace.
2. Wait a long time. In my measurements on the system described below, it averages to about 20 seconds of wall time for a second workspace and 34 seconds for initially launching Theia IDE from the dock.
3. See the most recently used editor from the previous session ready to use.
