S and Q values on Multiband Compressors and Limiters? #98

Hi, I'm Jonny, please forgive my clunky newbieness, I have been soaked in the world of sound.

I have been using your fantastic plugins for about 2 years now with ardour, they're really great to use. I have been a heavy user of your multiband compressors and limiters, very powerful, my compliments.

I have noticed that with the new versions of the Multi band compressor and limiter it is no longer possible to modify the Q ans S values at the crossover point. This was amazingly powerful functionality once I finally got my head around it and I invested a lot of time sculpting a sonic framework using this functionality.

The results have been incredible. It allowed me to shape the sound into this phat, snappy and open soundscape. It was a lot of work and I am hoping I don't have to try to re-create now that I'm upgrading from Ardour3 to Ardour4. Please help!

Please don't take that as a criticism of the new version of the multiband limiter/compressor either, they have the graph feature I was hoping they would have so I could see the S and Q changes.

Is it possible to access this S and Q functionality on the new versions? I am happy to modify a save file if that could work?

Alternatively, can I install the old version for use with Ardour4? It has a date of 2008-02-09 in the manual page and my current version has 2015-03-03. This was upgrading from Mint 16 to Mint 18.

My apologies if I have missed a previous discussion on this and if I have perhaps you can direct me to it. I totally understand that you guys are doing this for love of sound, which is really appreciated. I am totally happy to supply pizza and beer as I am a great fan of your work.

Thanks
Jonny
