I am starting bitcoin-qt with my GDM login and the splash screen is pretty disturbing especially when the loading of the database and blockchain takes some minutes and I am unable to move the splash screen out of the way. It seems that this is already recognized here and here. But since there wasn't an issue report for this request I made a new one.
