Description
Describe the bug
I always un-check "Use International Standard Atmosphere" and enter the actual Temperature and Barometric Pressure for the Launch Site.
For example. I will be launching model rockets today with my granddaughters at the local Elementary School.
These are the raw Atmospheric conditions for the site at 13:00 local time reported by Wunderground:
Pad Altitude: 741 ft
Temperature: 75F
Air Pressure: 30.05 inHg
I calculate the absolute pressure from Wunderground's reported: 30.05 inHg at 741 ft = 990.66 mB so I entered 75F and 990.66 mB in the Atmospheric Conditions dialog:
Then I run my Sims.
I was curious about air density -vs- altitude so I exported the following data from the sim:
- Time
- Altitude
- Air temperature
- Air pressure
- Air density
An Excel file of the exported data set is attached
The Air Temperature and Pressure do not match my overrides so the Air Density -vs- Altitude is off by about 2%:
For 75F and 990.66 mB I expected air density around 1.1619 Kg/m^3
But the Temperature in the exported Data was 73.3F and the Air Pressure was 976.72 Kg/m^3 in the export file.
Running 73.3F and 976.72 mB thru an air density calculator does come up with about the same air density on the pad ( 1.1491 Kg/m^3 ) so it is not a conversion issue ...
Am I doing it wrong ?
Thanks !
