@bheeshmpita how about if a 'select all' icon became available after you select a single item? then you could use the existing 'mark read' to mark everything as read? so the steps would be;

long press to select 1 conversation
touch select all icon (or menu option) and all conversations get selected
touch 'mark read' menu item

this is a fairly norrnal sequence of events to achieve a mass action.

a 'select all' feature would also be useful for people who like to keep their inbox empty.

long press to select 1 conversation

touch 'delete' or 'archive' icon

@octoshrimpy , any thoughts on this? i prefer 'select all' to be an icon on the toolbar rather than a menu option. but unless the archive action gets a confirm dialog like the delete action does i think it's too dangerous to have select all and archive so close to each other. one misplaced touch and all conversations will be moved to archive resulting in a huge waste of time restoring selected conversations back from the archive. urgh. can archive get a confirmation dialog like delete has if i put a select all icon in the toolbar left of archive?
