Besides the first item, the numbers don't matter in markdown ordered lists . To reduce diffs and make updates easier, many folks just use |

In
src/vscode-dtsdirectory, there is a README file which contains a not so good usage for markdown syntax, it should be ordered list with a growable digits. It's a little mistake, even though Github's previewer on the webpage corrects it and displays a right list.
