Continuation work for #191259

As mentioned in #202306, there are the following aspects that I want to add to polish the quick search preview.

• Try to get a 'true preview' editor state where we open a preview editor regardless of user settings. Quick Search should always show editors in preview mode when navigating #205136
• Omit editor navigation from back/forward history. Quick Search should omit history #205135

This is a 'master' issue for these issues.
