Recently our build broke when slfj4 2.0 ended up on the classpath (#3414).
We should check if we can be compatible with both slf4j 1.x and 2.x.
We have an internal logging facade that can delegate to slf4j. We should ensure that works with both.
We also have LogbackMetrics, which may be affected. I've tentatively targeted 1.10.0-RC1.
