Is there any chance the license could be changed to something permissive?

This would allow one to statically link to dwarfs, and also, permissive licenses are usually not much longer than 100 lines, whereas Apache, GPL, etc, they are multiple pages of text. Instead of being a list of conditions, it is more like an EULA for a proprietary program.

Also, in countries that are part of the CPTPP, copyleft is unenforceable. To list a few:

Australia
Brunei
Canada
Chile
Japan
Malaysia
Mexico
New Zealand
Peru
Singapore
United Kingdom
Vietnam

But I don't think that changes anything, the license is not specifically made for people in any of these countries, but rather to the rest of the globe

The only alternative right now to both squashfs and dwarfs that can be used in embedded contexts, and can be used freely by anyone, would be eroFS.

Changing the license of dwarfs to 3BSD/MIT/ISC would make dwarfs a viable alternative to anyone that needs to statically link to it, or needs to embed it in a commercial or non-commercial product

Thanks for reading, and thanks for your consideration

I've been endorsing dwarfs ever since I took notice of its existence, it's been great!
