As a test I bumped the version defined inside the VERSION file to 0.5.14
- build and install from src = OK
- makepkg and install on Arch Linux = OK
- rpmbuild and install on Fedora 41 = OK
In all 3 cases the version no. was bumped to 0.5.14 reflected in the application style config settings.
Looks okay to me.

centralizes current version to VERSION file
