Claim:
Video and photos captured in June 2025 authentically showed U.S. President Donald Trump stumbling while walking up the steps to board Air Force One.

In early June 2025, social media users claimed a video showed U.S. President Donald Trump stumble while walking up the steps to Air Force One — the presidential plane. Snopes received reader inquiries about this matter. For example, users searched the Snopes website for various phrases including, "Did Trump stumble on Air Force One?" and "Did Trump fall up stairs to Air Force One?" One reader also emailed, "Did Trump really stumble on Air Force One or was it AI-generated?"

Users on Bluesky (archived), Facebook (archived), Instagram (archived), Reddit (archived), Threads (archived), TikTok (archived) and (archived) X (archived) also shared photos or videos showing Trump nearly taking a tumble while ascending the steps to the airplane.

These videos, recorded on June 8 at Morristown Municipal Airport in Morristown, New Jersey, authentically depicted Trump stumbling while walking up the steps to the aircraft commonly known as Air Force One.

Snopes emailed the White House to ask if it wished to comment about this matter and will update this story if we receive more information.

Photos and videos show Trump and Rubio stumbling

Videos hosted by C-SPAN, Forbes Breaking News, Bloomberg News and LiveNOW from FOX all showed Trump stumbling for a moment, followed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio also slightly stumbling while ascending the same stairs. The Internet Archive's TV News Archive shows MSNBC broadcasting the moment live, extending the cable news network's coverage from when Trump fielded news media outlets' questions on the airport tarmac that day.

Agence France-Presse (AFP) photographer Andrew Caballero-Reynolds captured at least two pictures of Trump realizing he was in the process of potentially falling. Both image captions, hosted by Getty Images, read, "U.S. President Donald Trump trips while boarding Air Force One prior to departure from Morristown Municipal Airport in Morristown, New Jersey, on June 8, 2025, en route to Camp David."

For further reading, a previous fact check examined the time former President Joe Biden tripped and fell, also while climbing the steps to the aircraft commonly known as Air Force One. Past photos and videos also show former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush stumbling, as well.
