One25

Non-profit Organizations

The only organisation specifically dedicated to supporting women who street sex work in Bristol.

About us

One25 is a Bristol charity which reaches out to women who street sex work. We support them to move from crisis and trauma towards independence in the community. Wherever they are in their journeys, we give love and practical support, without judgement or expectation. Our vision is of a world where all women are safe, feel loved and thrive. We meet women who have been deeply traumatised from childhood abuse and violence. This leads to life situations where they are stigmatised, marginalised, locked out of society and face life-controlling issues. Last year, we worked with 271 women in Bristol, supporting them to exit street sex work, be safer from violence, access specialist support and develop skills and independence.

  • Arnold Clark have funded us with £1.5k through their #ArnoldClarkCommunityFund Cost-of-Living Support programme! This grant will go towards food and drink costs for health hub, helping to provide women street sex-working with a hot meal, hot drinks, and takehome food bags. Earlier this year in our service user consultation, 68% of respondents said they were eating more often since coming to One25. Thank you so much to Arnold Clark for helping us address food poverty amongst women street sex-working in Bristol. We were thrilled that Clare Moody, Avon & Somerset Police & Crime Commissioner, joined us on a van shift over the weekend. It is fantastic to see such commitment to increasing understanding and awareness of the danger and trauma women who street sex work face, to ensure women are protected in every way they need. It was a privilege to join the One25 outreach team on Saturday night to meet some of the women they work with and learn a little more about their lives. One25 builds relationships over time, sometimes over years, creating trust and opening up routes to support women. It’s quiet, determined work that makes a huge difference. I’m proud to be able to help fund it. I’m grateful to the the One25 team for the care and commitment they bring to this work, it is life-changing for many of the people they work with. https://orlo.uk/4l9DA

  • "We'll walk alongside women for as long as it takes" Yesterday, our CEO Jenny Riley and Services Coordinator Katie, spoke to Claire from @bbcbristol, reflecting on 30 years of One25, who the women are and why they are street sex-working, and the main challenges they face daily. They give honest and heart-warming insights to the women One25 supports and how they are supported. If you missed the live show, give it a listen on BBC sounds: https://lnkd.in/ecdic2BZ Interview starts at 2:11:41.

  • We know that many of the women we support face serious barriers to accessing mainstream healthcare: from the risk of re-traumatisation to rigid appointment systems and stigma. At our health hub, women can see our brilliant GP, Dr. Liz, in a safe and welcoming space. But for some women, getting to the Hub is too difficult. So each month, Dr. Liz will be joining our outreach van, bringing healthcare directly to the women on the streets. She says: "Twice as many women use the van compared to the health hub. By going to where they are, we can start breaking down the barriers to care."

  • We are proud to stand beside many incredible organisations by signing an open letter to Angela Raynor calling for changes to make England's homelessness systems safer, more accessible and equitable for women. The letter, written by Solace Women's Aid and Single Homeless Project, outlines recommendations and policy asks, based on the results of the recent Women's Rough Sleeping Census which showed that the number of women experiencing homelessness in this country is far higher than government data. • One25 is turning 30 this year! Over the last three decades we’ve journeyed with women through challenges and joys – and been supported by an amazing community. This milestone is an opportunity to look forward but also to reflect on the past and the moments we’ve shared together. Do you remember when...?

    • Text displayed on a pink background above an illustration of two white photograph frames. The text reads: “Remember when? This year we’re marking 30 years of One25. Here are some memorable moments from our archives...”

  • Today, Bridging Gaps were joined by Rose & Chloe (Sex Work Liaison Officers) and Tom (Neighbourhood Inspector) from Avon and Somerset Police so they could hear from directly from the women with lived experience about how to keep women street sex-working safe. Rose reflected on how hearing the women's voices is so important for making their work as meaningful as possible, in terms of how they work with women and run their police operations. Chloe said "there's no better way to understand what we can do better and how we can 'bridge the gap' between them and us." Thank you so much for coming. It is really valuable and essential to our service that we can help women feel and be as safe as possible whilst out at night.

Last month we hosted our webinar, Casework: In Conversation. Here's a snippet from the hugely insightful Q&A with our caseworkers, where our Operations Manager, Rachel, talks about the long term, person-centred approach we take to engaging women with our casework service.
