“Much like the rest of the world, India is in the thick of dealing with the current volatile global scenario. Needless to say, all dimensions of the economy are impacted — as are individuals. Those of us who work in the digital trust and governance space tend to train our eyes on the impact of geopolitics on the digital ecosystem.” Get all the insights from this week’s “Notes from the Asia-Pacific region: India feels geopolitical impacts, awaits DPDPA rules, and more” by Shivangi Nadkarni: https://bit.ly/4mrvX1O

IAPP reposted this
Wow, there's a remarkable legal battle brewing in California. Tractor Supply, rather than comply with a routine investigative inquiry from the California Privacy Protection Agency, decided to flip the board game and change the terms of engagement. The company argues that the CPPA's investigative powers do not extend to the time before the agency came into existence. (As far as the CPPA is concerned, did the universe exist before there was a CPPA? 🫥) Frustrated with this tack, the agency just sued the company seeking a court order to enforce its powers of investigation for the period after the CCPA came into effect. The agency seems more than happy to meet the upended battle head-on in order to settle this argument for good. “We will not hesitate to seek the court's assistance when necessary to advance our investigations and protect Californians' privacy rights,” said Michael Macko, the CPPA's head of enforcement. “We look forward to addressing the merits of this dispute in court.” (Or, as Ender Wiggin would say, "The enemy's gate is down.") 🗞️ Press release here: https://lnkd.in/ehXxAPcU 🤓 For the nerds, you can thank Luis Alberto Montezuma for posting the full court filing here: https://lnkd.in/ezJ-xDyb

“Las PyMEs son una de las columnas vertebrales de la economía, lo que resulta especialmente cierto en América Latina, en donde distintos organismos (OCDE, BID) estiman que el 99,5% de las empresas se encuentran en esta categoría. Además, según las mismas fuentes, alrededor del 60% de la población ocupada sería empleada por PyMEs.” “Las PyMEs y la protección de datos personales: iniciativas para promover el cumplimiento” por Gabriela Szlak: https://bit.ly/4m9dAz8
