What was the Giant Face Off?

Giant Face Off is a battle between Radio 1's Greg James and Jamie Laing. Both DJs head up a team of presenters, tasked with finding flags hidden across the country...and there can only be one winner.

Jamie and Greg took the challenge VERY seriously because there was a big forfeit for the losing team.

The Rules:

- The two teams of Radio 1 presenters had to find hidden flags across the UK.

- Radio 1 listeners could help by discovering clues, letting Jamie or Greg know that a flag had been spotted!

- There were 38 flags in play - 19 with Greg's face on, 19 with Jamie's face on. Each time a listener found a flag in a secret location, it became up to them - did they want to pick the Team Greg flag or the Team Jamie flag?

- The first team to get ten flags won!

Look at these two teams with their game face's on outside BBC HQ. They were so ready to play their part and capture the flags!

Where did the challenge take them?

First stop: Silverstone 🏁

No sooner had the game been announced, the first flag was already up for grabs. Jeremiah Asiamah (Team Greg) and Melvin Odoom (Team Jamie) were summoned to Silverstone by none other than F1 driver Lando Norris. They had to compete in an agility time trial, with Jamie and Greg cheering them on from back at the R1 base.

Jerry and Melvin have battled it out for the first flag, via a slalom race on the Silverstone F1 circuit. There were three factors in consideration - speed, flair and spatial awareness. Any hit cones resulted in penalty points.

The first flag went to Melvin Odoom. A first win for Team Jamie!

The challenge took teammates to a maze in Leeds Castle, up to Scotland, the West Midlands, and even Northern Ireland's Derry. With a parent or guardian's permission, check out BBC Sounds to look back at each challenge!

The challenge forfeits were confirmed!

Greg and Jamie were asked to set their own forfeits for the challenge - a huge sacrifice for the other to make if their own team won the challenge.

These forfeits were officially locked in:

IF TEAM GREG WON

Greg would become the godfather of Jamie Laing's newborn child. "I will refer to myself as Godfather Greg..."

IF TEAM JAMIE WON

Jamie would become the boss of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show, "and my first act will be to demote you, Greg." Jamie would pick his new host of the show.

Huge stakes were riding on these flags being found!

The game turned into a hot-footed pursuit, but the winner was team Greg!

Greg's winner speech:

'We did it! We were behind many times this week. We thought it was all lost...but it's ours now.'
